Buck Rail Airgun Accessories for the Zelos

While we were up in Ohio for the Pyramyd Air Cup a few weeks ago we couldn’t help but notice one of the other vendors there as well.

This would be Buck Rail, owned and operated by Terry Harman. Terry is a veteran who loves pew-pews and airguns. He’s also a savvy businessman who was smart enough to focus on a market that isn’t anywhere nearly as crowded as the firearm market– and that would be the airgun market.

Yes, the airgun market is still what you would call a niche market, but we do have an enthusiastic group of customers in the airgunning realm. What Terry is doing with Buck Rail is creating products and modifications for airguns that are extremely practical and functional.

While he makes parts for many brands of airguns, he’s been making parts, including barrel bands, stocks, modular stock attachments, pump actions, and other items for our Gauntlets, Origins, Notos and even the newly released Zelos.

We’ve seen pictures on social media with all sorts of mods being done to the Notos. The Notos has been an incredibly popular air rifle ever since we introduced it over a year ago. Modification such as this is a natural extension of people’s affection for an item. They love the base item, but want to make it better for them with a custom touch, much like how motorcyclists customize their bikes.

What we weren’t quite prepared for was the stuff he has come up with for the Zelos. We have only been shipping the Zelos for a scant few weeks at the time of the Pyramyd Air Cup, but this mattered not to Terry. He had already printed out barrel bands and pump actions for the Zelos. Is that innovative or what? While he is not alone in making modifications to his Zelos, he did pony up as a sponsor of the event and donated several of his custom modified air rifles for the raffle.

One of the first things I did when I got home was to reach out to Buck Rail to obtain a few pieces of his gear to use on my own Zelos which will be employed soon on duty at Airguns of Arizona’s Extreme Benchrest Competition.

The part I am most excited about is the barrel band. This band locks onto both the barrel and the tank, is made out of thick material, and allows for Picatinny accessories to be mounted on three planes. Yes, the Zelos has a robust barrel and doesn’t really need a barrel band, but the added benefit of bipod or other accessory mount and an even more stable barrel is too good to pass up on.

Since I am a right handed shooter, I may or may not benefit from using the pump action, but I will certainly try it out. I can see an immediate benefit for shooters of either hand orientation, but it would seem that right handed shooters would stand to make the most of the pump action.

Be sure to go by his webstore and see what all he carries. Even if you don’t have one of the air guns he is making gear for (yet) you will be impressed with his ingenuity. Don’t miss out!
