Budget Plinking Surprise for 2025?

It’s hard to pick a winner based on limited information. You might as well toss the dice and go with that.  Even when you have some information or all the information, if you have blinders on, you still end up seeing what you want to see. If nothing else, the state of popular culture and our consumption of news headlines should teach us all we want to know about this phenomenon.

I must admit that when I first laid eyes on the Markpoint .177 caliber pellet pistol, I didn’t get it. It was only after we displayed a large selection of our air pistols at this year’s SHOT Show, the Markpoint among them, that I finally began to see what quite a few other people saw.

To start with, the Markpoint doesn’t look like any existing firearm, but I had seen something like it somewhere in the past. As more and more people walked by and almost by compulsion reached out for the Markpoint, I overheard a long forgotten name from 1990’s popular culture– “Duck Hunt”. Then it started to make sense.

The Markpoint is not a clone of the blaster that was included in the original Nintendo gaming system, but it does pay homage to the controller needed to play the game Duck Hunt. The Markpoint has a much different design, but does share a longer barrel, and an other-than-black grayscale coloration.

The Markpoint is a spring powered .177 caliber pellet pistol.  It shoots pellets at a modest 400 feet per second and features an easy to break open 9.8 inch long barrel. It also featured an aggressively textured grip that utilizes a very comfortable angle.  Some users will notice a grip safety on the back of the grip handle.  This type of safety is commonly found on 1911 style handguns and is a simple and highly effective way to make a pistol safe.

And the best news is the MarkPoint is extremely affordable with an MSRP at $34.99, the MarkPoint is extremely affordable. Is the MarkPoint the answer to your winter basement/garage plinking blues?  Why not? It is certainly worth investigating at such a nominal price.
